Technical Notices
Technical Notice No SR 06-2020-Inventory of Hazardous Materials – EU SRR compliance
As it is already well known, under the requirements of the EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EU SRR), by 31 December 2020, any ship on or over 500 GT, of any flag, calling at an EU port or anchorage, will need to have onboard:
- An EUSRR-compliant IHM on board; and
- Either a valid certificate (for EU flagged ships) or statement of compliance (for non EU flagged ships) issued on behalf of flag.
Operators should either employ (strongly recommended) the expertise of a hazardous material expert (approved by an IACS Society or the flag Administration) who will undertake the compilation of the IHM accordingly or prepare the IHM in-house.
INSB Class Certification services
Once the service is contracted and the IHM and all supporting evidence has been received we can undertake a desktop approval, followed by an onboard verification survey, well ahead of the 31 December 2020 deadline.
Upon successful completion of the onboard verification survey, certification (valid for 5 years) can be issued an EUSRR Statement of Compliance will be issued on behalf of flag to non-EU flagged ships. When compliant with the EUSRR, additional Hong Kong Convention statements of compliance can also be issued (when requested) for no additional fee when obtained at the same time as EUSRR certification.
Please contact INSB Class Head Office for any query related to IHM certification while a new updated web site has been launched which is very informative and helpful.
