Renewal MLC Shipboard Inspection
DURING THE INSPECTION SPECIAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING
a.16 items listed to be inspected and certified:
- Minimum age
- Medical certification (medical practitioner is duly qualified/recognized)
- Qualifications of seafarers (STCW certification, personal safety training,
- Seafarers’ employment agreements and any related Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA)
- Use of any licensed or certified or regulated private recruitment and placement service
- Hours of work or rest
- Manning levels for the ship (at least as per Minimum Safe Manning)
- Accommodation &
- On-board recreational facilities
- Food and catering
- Health and safety and accident prevention
- On-board medical care
- On-board complaint procedures
- Payment of wages
- Financial Security for Repatriation
- Financial Security relating to Shipowners’ Liability
b. Additional requirements that are only to be inspected although not subject to certification
- R2.4 Entitlement to leave
- R25 Social security
- A5.1.1 – General principles (a Copy of MLC, 2006 Convention should be placed onboard)
2022 MLC AMENDMENTS (in force as of 23/12/2024)
The new 2022 MLC amendments should be incorporated into DMLC Part II and/or MLC Manual.
